Double the Bridges

5/24/2019

Our Building Bridges project wants to double next school year. After a successful first pilot year, the schools are eager to expand the cooperation.

“Although the practicalities are sometimes a bit of a challenge, the final outcome is more than rewarding.”  quotes one of the teachers. The biggest attraction is the contact with kids of the same age in another country. “I like the fact that you can choose your country, so you can go for the atmosphere that fits your kids.” Making the videos was also a popular activity. “It’s a different kind of language learning, but because they have to be serious, as they get feedback in the group report, they tend to be very actively involved.”

Registration for the new Building Bridges group starts on Thursday 20 June. The actual Building Bridges project begins in October / November 2019.

"Piles and piles of exam papers are very impressive and seem endless". This is how our Anglia Exams Administrator Yvonne Gommers described the administration the Anglia exams in our Anglia20 Anniversary Magazine.

Luckily, there is always a group of Peak Team Members, helping to perzonalize all the exam papers and make sure they are ready to be shipped to the participating schools. Peak Team Member Annette has been a valued colleague for many many years. We therefore surprised her with a well deserved cake. Many thanks Annette!

Skype Tutorials: Learn English at home with your personal online coach

5/24/2019

Our Skype tutorials are gaining popularity especially with children and teenagers. The main advantage choosing for this this way of learning English is that you connect with an experienced teacher from the comfort of your own home on a day and at a time that suits you best.

During the online lessons the English Academy coach will answer your questions, discuss and explain the homework and practice English listening and speaking skills with you. Before starting we will ask you about the learning objectives so we can find a suitable teacher. The English lessons will be customized to your needs and wishes. I would like more information!

“My teacher Janine has helped me feel so much more confident when speaking English. She is incredibly patient. She gives me lists of words concerning the subjects I want to talk about  in advance so I am well prepared when we connect online  .”

New EFKF Events Coordinator!

5/24/2019

Hello! My name is Gina Leyva and I’m the new Events Coordinator for the English for Kids Foundation. I am originally from Lima, Peru and came to the Netherlands to study English Language and Literature at the University College Roosevelt.
Picture
The English language has opened many doors for me in my education, career, and personal life so I decided to apply to the EFKF as my way to give back to the world. I truly believe that knowledge of English is a skill that can help lift less privileged children above their circumstances and I look forward to creating events and fundraising opportunities to see this happen! For now, with many plans in the works, one of the most exciting ones is bringing the EFKF to the limelight, so...
EFKF is expanding its online presence!

We will soon see the start of our social media strategy, focused on different marketing campaigns that aim to reach a wider network of individuals and possible donors. Social media campaigns have been the tool of many major charities in recent years, and it’s time for the EFKF to join the party! For now, we’re slowly building the campaigns with two types of posts per week: “Word of the Week” and “Fun Facts”. In Summer, we aim to have our first special campaign called #MyFavouriteEnglishWord.

For more updates, keep an eye on our Facebook and Instagram and if you haven’t followed/liked us in social media, now’s the time!
