PIE for Marian Venderbos

12/6/2019

English Summer Schools, assessments or training. Nothing is too much, in sunshine, or when it is raining. Dear Marian, you deserve our PIE because you give far more than you take.
Picture
Marian has been involved in a wide variery of Anglia activities for many, many years. As one of our most experienced Anglia Speaking Test Assessors she has guided hundreds, if not thousands of Anglia Speaking Test participants, mostly in the south of The Netherlands.

Because of this experience, Marian was asked give the Anglia Speaking Test Assessor Training as well. She is currently training a group of about 25 enthusiastic teachers.
A passion for Anglia seems te be running in the family, because together with her husband (the Anglia Coordinator at SG Sophianum in Gulpen) she has been a (head) teacher in several of our English Summer Schools.

Karate Camp in Lviv Ukraine wants to add English to their offer in August 2020

11/8/2019

The Karate Camp in Lviv in August 2020 will be different from last year.

“We want to offer English to the Karate Kids, the director of the organizing club explains. We think it is important for young people to develop in different ways. The combination of sports and using your brains is very effective and benefits both.”

Anglia Network wants to support this initiative. We have experience in the combination of sports and English at our regular Summer Schools and especially at the Sailing Summer School in Zeeland in 2018. So we are looking for teachers who would like to join this camp in August 2020.

Learning Lottery for EFKF goes global

11/8/2019

A Learning Lottery is a win-win activity. You buy a ticket for €10, the money will be spent on education for children, but you can also benefit yourself. If you win, you will get a learning experience, like learn how to play piano, or sing, drive a sports car or play golf. Usually there are 10 prizes.

The concept was introduced last year and was an instant success in The Netherlands. We have now been approached by our international colleagues who also want to set up such a lottery. We have the organizational handbook and are more than willing to help you. Please mail admin@efkf.org for more information.

“It would be great if we could involve some international students, from the Anglia Network countries like Italy, Turkey, Ukraine and The Netherlands.

Our students have already discussed it with their parents and they are seriously interested. “

In Athens we are looking for 14-15 year olds at A2 or B1 level. We will travel in groups of 5 to 10 students, accompanied by a teacher or responsible adult. Please mail angela@englishacademy.info for more information.

Review English Experience Week Athens
- Marita Papadogianni, 16 years old -

In July 2019 I had the opportunity to participate in the ANGLIA English Experience Week in the Arsakeia Tositseia Schools of Athens. During the week I saw only happy faces. Smaller and older children practiced their English, learning how to be more competent in the use of English in writing and more fluent in oral communication.

City bingo, sports activities, meals with schoolmates and teachers, team work in the classrooms, the use of multimedia and working on a project to be presented to the parents at the end of the week were the main features of this English summer camp. All this was so innovative and fun that the week was not enough, as everyone enjoyed it and didn’t want it to end.

The ANGLIA teachers were wonderful, talented, smiling and warm, so a deep bond was formed between them and the students. All the children expressed their wish to participate again next summer and have this great chance to practice English guided by native speakers.

I hope I will be part of the English Experience Week next year too! -

And do sports:  they will also play lots of games like basketball and volley, but also Running Dictation and Water Races. This week is all about English in Action!
